I picked up this wrap dress from a local thrift store and it was love at first sight!  I assume it was handmade because it has no tags and the stitching doesn't look professional, but I absolutely love it! You know I'm obsessed with my wrap dresses and this one is super comfy and hugs in all the right places! :)

Thrifty Thursday

Today's Thrifty Thursday is a combo of old and new!  About a year ago I scored this Missoni (click link to see retail price) dress from the Goodwill for 5 bucks!  True story- I didn't know the dress was designer until a I wore it to a party and another girl was wearing the same dress! After a few funny comments, she explain to me that Missoni is super expensive and I got it for a steal!

  

The dress is such a statement piece that I normally wear it by itself, but since it's been so chilly I paired it with an Austin Reed blazer which I got from another thrift store Magazine called No Fleas Market for $12!

Thrifty Thursday

Today's Thrifty Thursday dress is an oldie but goodie!  I got this Andre Oliver dress from the Goodwill a few years back.  Paid less then $5 for the getup and it POPS every time it goes on air!  This goes to show that you do not have to pay big bucks to look fly!  Hope this inspires you to try thrifting! #SparkleLikeYouMeanIt :)

While in town, my parents got the chance to tour my job at the WDSU studio.  Things got a little out of hand and they did their best newscast/traffic impression... Judge for yourself but I think my mom's a natural, however my dad needs a little work! :)  

Thrifty Thursday

Not only do I find amazing one of a kind dresses at the thrift store, I often come across really nice suits!  The one I rocked this Thrifty Thursday still had the price tags from the Limited and cost me less than $10!

Peep the price tag!!! Retail cost for both pieces would have been over $200!!!

It's so hard for me to buy clothes at retail price when I get if for such a steal at the thrift store!

Today's Thrifty Thursday pic is a simple floral lace navy blue Forever 21 dress I got from a nearby thrift store.  I jazzed it up with a red necklace from Arden B and a belt with a gold medallion that's also from a thrift store!  All together my outfit cost less ten $20!

Last night I co-hosted a professional networking event at a local restaurant called Diva Dawg.  We had a great turnout and saw some amazing costumes! I was even able to snag a shot with rapper French Montana! :) 

And who can forget last year at the Mortuary Haunted House?! If you don't remember well here's a little reminder. Happy Halloweenie!!! :) 

Thrifty Thursday

Today's Thrifty Thursday outfit is one my favorite pieces.  I got this Jones New York dress a while back for less than $10.  It's hard to wear this dress often because the print stands out, but when I do boy do I rock it! Not only do I love the print but the fact that it's a wrap dress is a double plus!

Professional Development Day

Yesterday I had the pleasure of talking to staff at Delgado Community College for their Professional Development Day!  It was truly a blessing not only because I met some wonderful women, but I also got to talk about something I'm truly passionate about... THRIFTING!!!!  Some tips and techniques I shared with the ladies is make sure you go with an open mind and without a plan.  A thrift store is not like the mall where you know what you want, and you know where to find it... You really need to pack your patience and you never know what you'll find!  Another note is make sure you leave the bourgeois behavior at the door!  Of course it's going to smell a little funny, it's going to be a little dusty and you may get followed by a few strange people :) but in the end it's definitely worth it! 

 The ladies were so nice at Delgado CC!  I want to plan a day of thrifting with all of them!

Birthday Weekend

This weekend I celebrated my 27th birthday with my twin Amanda!  Even though I got called to work Saturday morning for storm coverage,  I didn't let it damper my day! :)  The Twin-ster and I threw a birthday bash/pool party at the house and I even got a chance to pig out at Gretna Fest!

Thrifting for the First Time!

Working on television can be a bit pricey, especially if you like nice clothes!  Well here's my secret to looking bomb on a budget... THRIFT STORES!!! I recently took one of our morning anchors Sula Kim thrifting for the first time to a local Goodwill and check out the goodies she found!

I'm starting this new thing call #ThriftyThursday... I'm a HUGE thrifter and have been my whole life.  My mother Kim Isaacs, who you can follow at BellaKRose.blogspot.com raised us in the thrift store!  When I was younger I use to be embarrassed and would lie about where I got my clothes, but now I take pride in the treasures I find and love sharing them with u! :)

Traffic is what I do!

Just a little background... I started my career as a junior in college where I was production assistant for the morning show at Fox 8.  Long story short, I was promoted to Associate Producer (write scripts for anchors) then after that to the first traffic reporter in Fox 8 history (Not bad for a chocolate girl from the Great Northwest!!!)

About 3 months ago I left Fox and accepted the position as morning traffic reporter for WDSU Ch. 6.  Everyone wants to know why I left well it's simple... Money talks! :)  

Since the move everything has been uphill, even though I miss some of my peeps at Fox everyone at 6 has been super nice and helpful!

Birthdays & A Saints Win Weekend

Yummy cookie cake!

we partied the night away at one of our favorite spots in New Orleans and finished up with cookie cake, drinks and a night of dancing!  The best thing about Tea's birthday is that once hers is here, I know mine is right around the corner (Oct. 6)!  This year we're planning a girls b-day extravaganza to Miami... I will make sure to keep you posted.

The following day I attended the Saints vs. Cardinals in the Dome game and had a blast!  Sometime during the game I managed to guzzled down 2 AMAZING bloody mary's, which made the game even more exciting!!! :)
